Transformer Calculator calculate any of the parameter within the equation. Which include both primary and secondary Volts, Currents and Turns. Transformer Calculations for: Transformer Turns Ratio - Current and Turns Transformer Turns Ratio - Volts and Turns Transformer Turns Ratio - Volts and Current Result will define Step-up or Step-down Transformer Transformers are mainly used as power converters. The two variants, i.e. the step up and the step down converters function on the same line, but in opposite directions. While the step up transformer converts a low AC voltage to a higher strata, the step down transformer does the opposite. To put it simply, if a country uses 110v current, the step up transformer will convert the power to 220v current, and the step down transformer will do just the opposite. However both conduct A.C. A transformer consists of a soft iron coil with two coils wound around it which are not connected to one another. These coils can be wound either on separate limbs of the iron core or be arranged on top of each other. The coil to which the alternating voltage is supplied is called the primary coil or primary winding. When an alternating potential difference is supplied the resulting alternating current in the primary coil produces a changing magnetic field around it. This changing field induces an alternating current in the secondary coil. The size of the induced voltage resulting from the induced current in the secondary coil depends on the number of turns in the secondary coil. All transformers have a name plate rating. It is best to operate at voltages to the limit mentioned on the name plate. Using a step down transformer below the limit can put it to a wide number of uses. But going above limit is dangerous and can cause electrical failures. The relationship between the voltage, current and the number of turns in each coil is given by: Vp/Vs = Np/Ns = Is/Ip Where: Vp - primary voltage Vs - secondary voltage Np - primary turns Ns - secondary turns Ip - primary current Is - secondary current Thanks for your support and do visit nitrio.com for more apps for your iOS devices.
